Welcome To EPM Pest Control Brisbane
Brisbane’s Pest Control Experts
Brisbane is a very large city – but like every other city with a high population, pests are attracted by the waste that people leave behind. As a result, pest control becomes a necessity, to ensure that you live in a healthy, pest-free environment. At EPM Pest Control Brisbane, we have all the resources necessary to ensure that you are fully protected.
Experience, Insurance & Licensing
EPM Pest Control Brisbane is licensed under the regulations of the Queensland Government, acting under the Pest Management Act of 2001. We adhere to the regulations set by the department of health, to ensure that pest removal is not only safe but also efficient.
Our company has been providing pest control services to homeowners for more than 10 years. Therefore, we have enough experience to cater to your needs. We are also fully insured, providing the best of services so that our clients only experience peace of mind.
Residential Pest Control
Pests in a household can be very bad for your physical and mental health. Pests such as cockroaches or rodents are unsanitary and have the potential of carrying disease, and termites may lay damage worth thousands of dollars in your home.
Pests that come into your home do so because they found the right environment. Mosquitos, for instance, might be attracted by the pond water you have in your backyard, whereas ticks may find your tall grass or shrubs perfect to hide in.
Yard and house maintenance are important to keep your home pest-free, but so is the right pest control. By applying the treatment, you remove potential nests or prevent the pests from coming into your home in the first place.
Applying the appropriate pest treatment should terminate the infestation right away, killing the pests along with their eggs. However, residential pest control can also be applied before you even have any issues. For instance, termite or mosquito-repelling pest treatment will protect not only your home but also your peace of mind.
Commercial Pest Control
Commercial establishments have a high potential of developing a pest problem, mainly due to the items left in stock or the number of people coming into these buildings. If the doors open and close continuously (or are never closed in the first place), this will give pests the perfect opportunity to come into the building.
Once inside, they will find resources on which they can feast. This can include anything from the food that you have in your pantry to your electrical wiring and even the foundation that keeps the building structure up.
Due to the people flow, the following are required to have regular pest control checks and apply the treatment when needed:
- Strata
- Offices
- Retail Shops
- Shopping Centres
- Restaurants
- Schools (and Universities)
- Childcare
- Hotels
- Government
Without proper pest control, the reputation of the company may end up suffering. For instance, if you have a restaurant, guests may have second thoughts about coming back if they see a roach or a rodent. A pest problem may also lay damage to your pantry items, compromising the products and bringing your business down.
Commercial establishments in Brisbane are also required by the law to meet the regulations of the Queensland Department of Health. Skipping regular pest control checks may lead to hefty fines, which will damage not only the finances of a company but its reputation as well.
Termite Inspections
Termite queens are capable of laying up to 30,000 eggs per day. Once the eggs hatch and the pests mature, the colony can deal significant damage to the foundation of your home. For this reason, it is recommended to have a termite inspection at least once a year, especially if you live in a high-humidity area of Brisbane.
Termite inspections will be done both on the house and around your property (i.e., in your backyard). Multiple tools will be used to detect the presence of the pest, such as moisture meters, torches, microwave radars, and thermal imaging. All findings will be written down in the report and presented to the commissioner, so that the next steps may be arranged.
Termite inspections are essential when buying a home, as termite damage can significantly decrease the value of a house. They are also a regular necessity, to ensure that termites will not damage the house you plan on leaving into the generations.
Termite Treatment
Once termite presence has been discovered, it is essential to apply termite treatment as soon as possible. This will kill the pest colony and prevent it from dealing any further damage to your home.
At EPM Pest Control Brisbane, we use Termidor in order to eliminate a live colony of termites. Termidor works as a carrier, which will not kill the termite right away but prevent it from moulting and maturing. Before the pest eventually dies, it will carry the termiticide to its colony, “transferring” it from termite to termite until it eventually reaches the termite queen.
It is essential to apply termite treatment before installing the termite barrier or the termite baiting system. If you don’t, all you will do is trap the termites in your home, without killing them. The option they would have is to just eat through your home, as they won’t be able to seek food from outside.
Termite Barrier
When it comes to termite barriers, there are two types that you may go for: the physical termite barrier and the chemical termite barrier.
Physical barriers are installed in the pre-construction stage of your home. They feature polymer sheets added to a concrete base, often infused with termiticide, to deter termites from chewing their way into your home. This will not kill the termites, but just stop them from advancing.
Chemical termite barriers also have the potential of killing trespassing termites. The termiticide used may either repel the termite through its scent, or it can be odour-free. The latter will simply kill the pest that passes through the barrier, often preventing it from sending the “message” to the colony.
Chemical barriers are applied around the house, in a protective circle. Each termiticide will have a different validity, typically from 5 to 8 years. Unlike physical barriers that can last through generations, chemical barriers will need periodic application.
At EPM Pest Control Brisbane, we use Termidor in order to apply a chemical barrier. This is because Termidor can offer complete protection for up to 8 years. We recommend yearly pest inspections, to ensure that the Termidor barrier is not weakened by extreme ground or weather conditions.
Termite Baiting Systems
The purpose of a termite baiting system is to monitor and intercept a potential pest activity in your home. The baiting stations are installed at a fair distance in your yard, away from your house – but not far enough so that they are missed by the termites.
Termite baiting systems will feature non-toxic cellulose bait that is several times more attractive to the pest than regular timber. Instead of going for your home, the termites will feel compelled to go to the bits instead.
Once the termite baiting systems are checked and a pest infestation is confirmed, the non-toxic cellulose bait is switched with one that has been laced with termiticide. These termites will not notice the termiticide and will carry it to their colony. The poison features a growth inhibitor, so the pests will be unable to moult after they consume it.
At EPM Pest Control Brisbane, we use Exterra, Sentricon, and Trelona for our termite baiting systems. These have proved to be very efficient in getting rid of pests, preventing them from making their way into your house or commercial establishment. Our pest control technicians are fully trained to install these baits, ensuring a termite-free establishment for a much longer time.
